The Euchre Masters Points Style Tournament: Traditional Progressive Format

Our points-style tournament follows the most widely recognized format across U.S. euchre tournaments, while maintaining Euchre Masters’ high competitive standards. This traditional progressive format is familiar to most experienced players, with some unique EM refinements. This is our overflow tournament structure.

Typical payout for overflow tournament with 64 players is:

Overflow Prize Structure:

  • Winner: $250
  • Second: $100
  • Most Loners $25

Tournament Format Overview:

  • Follows standard progressive tournament structure
  • Incorporates established U.S. tournament practices
  • Features EM’s specific rule modifications

Note: House rules are subject to modification. All rules and any variations will be thoroughly reviewed with players before tournament start.

Euchre Masters (EM) Points (Progressive) Tournament Format

  • The Basics:

    • Four players per table, divided into two partnerships
    • Partners randomly assigned for each game
    • 8 total games in the tournament
    • Each game consists of 8 hands

    Scoring & Documentation:

    • Partnerships accumulate points during each game
    • All players must keep individual scorecards
    • Loner hands must be documented for the player winning all 5 tricks (for loner award)
    • Opponents must initial scorecards to verify accuracy
    • Table runners will collect game sheets and submit to official scorekeepers

    Table & Partner Rotation:

    • Initial table assignments are random (assigned at check-in)
    • After each game:
      • Winners stay at their table
      • Losers move to next higher-numbered table
      • All players draw cards, lowest cards from winners and losers become partners

    Cut Card:

    • Cut card must be used to cover bottom of deck and will be provided

Miscellaneous

  • Stump the dealer is in effect. Dealer must pick up trump if everybody passes.
  • A card laid is a card played

Tournament Code of Conduct & Rules

  • Fair Play:

    • Have fun while maintaining competitive spirit
    • Cheating (signaling or information exchange) results in immediate disqualification
    • Strong suspicion of cheating may result in ban from future tournaments
    • All disputes must be reported to table runners for judge resolution
    • Tournament judges’ decisions are final and binding

    Player Responsibilities:

    • Track personal scores accurately
    • Report scoring discrepancies to table runner promptly
    • Ask questions when unclear about rules or procedures
    • Maintain sportsmanlike conduct at all times

    Tournament Management:

    • Organizers reserve right to:
      • Modify schedule and rules as needed
      • Adjust table assignments to:
        • Expedite gameplay
        • Accommodate handicapped players
    • Table disputes handled only by tournament judges
    • No appeals after judge decisions

    Zero Tolerance Policy:

    • No discrimination
    • No harassment
    • No unsportsmanlike conduct
    • Violations may result in immediate tournament expulsion
